CEI-Iscte (Centre for International Studies) is a university-based multidisciplinary research center of the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Iscte). Its core mission is to develop academic research, thinking and intervention in a range of complex social, political and economic phenomena that go beyond national and regional borders. It is our commitment to produce research of excellence addressing the most critical 21st Century international developments and societal challenges, as well as the consequences of globalization. CEI-Iscte is divided into three different research groups –  Global Politics and Security; Democracy, Activisms and Citizenship; Sustainable Societies – and its research focuses on five regional areas – Africa; Europe & Transatlantic Relations; Asia; Middle East and North Africa; Latin America & the Caribbean.
