The call for papers for the 23rd Annual Conference of the Transatlantic Studies Association is now open. CEI-Iscte will host this edition, which will take place between 14 and 16 July 2025 at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon.
The Keynote Speakers have already been confirmed for this edition, as have the main round tables. All this information is available in the call for papers.
The theme of this edition is ‘50 years after the democratic transitions in Southern Europe and their impact on (trans)Atlantic relations’. We welcome proposals (panels and individual papers) on any aspect of the political and international dimensions of the Portuguese, Greek and Spanish transitions in the mid-1970s, with special attention to their transatlantic dimension, considering the influence and impact of North and South Atlantic actors on both shores of the Atlantic. Contributions are encouraged on topics such as: US and European foreign policy and its impact on Southern European transitions, the role of NATO and other international organisations, Latin American solidarity with democratic movements and the influence of Cold War geopolitics.
Other formats
In addition to the above-mentioned themes, we welcome papers and panels on any aspect of transatlantic studies. Interdisciplinary papers and panels are particularly welcome, as are innovative formats such as round tables, workshops or multimedia presentations.
