CEI is available to welcome national and international students on curricular or Erasmus internships.
The integration of interns depends on the opportunities and availability of the research team in each period, so the opening of vacancies is assessed on a specific basis. Internships allow students to participate in ongoing research projects, develop practical skills and contribute to the scientific dynamics of our unit.

Opportunity 1
- Duration: 3 to 6 months
- Type of internship: Curricular or Erasmus
- Areas or tasks to be developed: Introduction to scientific research in the field of Contemporary History: archival work, source collection, bibliography compilation, chronology compilation, writing short historiographical texts. Area of work: History of Portugal, 1945-1976.
- Intern profile: History student or with previous training in History. Fluency in Portuguese.
Opportunity 2
- Research project: Cadernos de Estudos Africanos (Journal)
- Duration: 1 to 2 months
- Type of internship: other
- Areas or tasks to be developed: Translation of articles published in the journal Cadernos de Estudos Africanos from English into Portuguese.
- Intern profile: Fluency in Portuguese and English; knowledge of social sciences and humanities, preferably African Studies, History, Political Science and/or International Relations.
Opportunity 3
- Research project: Urban Circularity in Portugal: A participatory, modular and adaptive approach
- Duration: 5 months
- Type of internship: Curricular, Erasmus and/or other
- Areas or tasks to be developed: Literature review, database development
- Intern profile: Master’s student
Opportunity 4
- Research project: Mapping the conceptual and operational evolution of CSDP in Africa
- Duration: 2-3 months
- Type of internship: Curricular, Erasmus and/or other
- Areas or tasks to be developed: Literature review, compilation of official documentation, discourse analysis
- Intern profile: Master’s student in International Studies or Political Science, fluent in English, previous experience in using discourse analysis software (e.g. MAXQDA or NVivo)
