Manchester University Press recently published the book Grassroots Housing Models in Europe. Translocal Networks, Innovations, Community (2026), a work dedicated to the study of translocal networks that connect community-based housing initiatives in various European countries.
This publication brings together contributions that analyze the social innovations developed by these initiatives, as well as the forms of solidarity and alternative housing models they promote. The volume aims to provide a comprehensive overview of translocal, community-based housing networks in Europe, combining an international analysis with studies of different experiences and contexts.
CEI-Iscte researcher Ana Margarida Esteves is the author of one of the chapters in this book, contributing to the discussion on emerging dynamics and alternatives in the field of community-based housing. The chapter was also co-authored by André Girardi. The book is edited by Corinna Hölzl-Verwiebe.
