The Centre for International Studies (CEI-Iscte) of Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation (Iscte Knowledge and Innovation Association – Centre for Technology Transfer and Valorisation) has launched a call for applications for a Postdoctoral Research Grant, reference CEI_BIPD01_2026, as part of Pluriannual Funding UID/03122/2025 funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

The grant, which will run for 18 months and is due to start in January 2027, is aimed at researchers who hold a PhD in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science or related fields, and who obtained their PhD less than three years prior to the application date.

The research to be carried out should fit into one of CEI-Iscte’s three research groups — Global Politics and Security, Democracy, Activism and Citizenship, or Sustainable Societies — and contribute to strengthening scientific output, organising events and initiatives to support public policy-making, preparing applications for national and international funding, and disseminating scientific findings.

The admission requirements also include the condition that the doctoral research must have been carried out at a research unit other than the one where the postdoctoral research will be conducted.

Applications are open until 30 September

Applications are open until 30 September 2026 at 11.59 pm (Lisbon time) and must be submitted via the Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation Recruitment Platform.

Applications must include a motivation letter, a Curriculum Vitae, a research plan in English, proof of a PhD qualification and any other documents specified in the call for applications. All documents must be submitted in PDF format.
