On 19 October, CEI-Iscte, partner of V-Dem – Varieties of Democracy, organised a presentation of the Portuguese version of the Varieties of Democracy Report 2026 – Unravelling the Democratic Era?.
V-Dem is one of the leading international research projects on democracy, providing comparative data on different dimensions of democracy and political regimes around the world. Through its partnership with the V-Dem Regional Centre for Southern Europe, CEI-Iscte contributes to research and debate on the evolution of democracy, with a particular focus on the political dynamics of Southern Europe and the Portuguese-speaking world.
The session will feature a presentation of the report by Tiago Fernandes, Director of the V-Dem Regional Centre for Southern Europe and Researcher at CEI-Iscte, followed by a commentary by Carlos Meléndez, from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa).
The opening session will be led by Ana Mónica Fonseca, Director of CEI-Iscte.
