The event ‘Palestine Studies: Contemporary Perspectives and Challenges’, dedicated to the critical analysis of contemporary Palestine through cinema and academic debate, will take place on 29 April from 3pm.

The session begins with a screening of the film ‘From Ground Zero’, directed by Rashid Masharawi, followed by a conversation with the director (Q&A session), providing the audience with an opportunity to explore the film’s creative process and political context.

This will be followed by Dina Matar’s keynote lecture entitled ‘Interrogating Western Legacy Media’s Role in Epistemic Violence Against Palestinians’, which will discuss the role of Western media in perpetuating forms of epistemological violence against the Palestinian people. The session will be moderated by Giulia Daniele.

This event aims to foster a space for interdisciplinary reflection on the current challenges in Palestinian Studies, bringing together cinema, media and critical thinking.

The session will take place in Auditorium B2.03.
