On June 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the workshop “Kurakani [Conversations] and meaning-making about (in)security with the Nepali community in Portugal” will take place in Room A202, Building 4, Iscte.
The session will be led by Priya Dixit, a researcher hosted under the FCT Mobility program, and Raquel Beleza da Silva, researcher at CEI-Iscte.
The workshop presents a research project focused on the issue of public safety among Nepali communities in Portugal. Through participant observation and interviews conducted in small businesses run by members of the Nepali community in five regions of the country, the study seeks to understand:
- how policing affects migrant and minority communities in multicultural democracies;
- how these communities interpret and attribute meaning to experiences of (in)security.
