The African Studies Section of the Portuguese Political Science Association is organising its first Graduate Conference on October 23, 2024, at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon and at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. The event aims to bring together students and early career academics whose research focuses on the African continent and contributes to the production of knowledge in the areas of political science, comparative politics, political economy, political theory and international relations. The conference also aims to welcome research that encompasses multidisciplinary and multimethodological perspectives on African politics.
On the programme, we highlight the 6pm session with keynote speaker Shingirai Mtero, from the Nordc Africa Institute (Uppsala, Sweden), who will speak about ‘Symptoms of Declining Democracy: Contemporary challenges to women’s political participation in Africa’.
