Applications are open for the Summer School in African Politics, which will take place between 30 June and 2 July 2025 at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa). The training takes place in English, from 9.30am to 5.30pm, and is aimed at postgraduate students and professionals interested in the political dynamics of the African continent.

Coordinated by Edalina Sanches (ICS-ULisboa) and Ana Lúcia Sá (CEI-Iscte), the school’s main objectives are:

  • Offer multidisciplinary and in-depth knowledge on the African continent, with a focus on relevant and current political issues;
  • Train participants in research strategies and methods applied to analysing political phenomena in Africa;
  • Provide personalised feedback to support the development of research skills and projects, whether academic or social intervention.

Target Audience

The course is especially aimed at master’s and doctoral students in the social sciences and humanities, as well as professionals from different sectors who work or have an interest in African political issues.

General public: 200 €
ICS Community | Students from ULisboa, Iscte, FCSH-NOVA and African universities: 100 €

Note: the fees do not include the application fee (€10), enrolment fee (€25) and certificate issued in Portuguese (€10).
