Ana Mónica Fonseca began a new mandate as Director of Iscte’s Centre for International Studies (CEI-Iscte) at a ceremony that took place on 28 April in the Sala de Atos of Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon.

The ceremony was attended by Iscte’s Rector, Professor Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, as well as Vice-Rectors Maria das Dores Guerreiro (Internationalisation), Maria de Fátima Ferreiro (Teaching and Accreditations), Sofia Vale (Management) and Helena Carreiras (Pioneer Alliance). Also present were Helena Carvalho, Director of the School of Sociology and Public Policy (ESPP), Diniz Lopes, Director of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (ECSH), Madalena Ramos, President of the Scientific Council and Sónia Pintassilgo, President of the Pedagogical Council. Also present were professors, researchers and members of CEI-Iscte’s science management team.

The director of CEI-Iscte reaffirmed her commitment to the Centre’s mission, underlining the importance of keeping the scientific community together to face the challenges ahead. The Rector of Iscte emphasised the work already done by Ana Mónica Fonseca and welcomed her renewed commitment.

Ana Mónica Fonseca is an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Iscte and has been the Director of CEI-Iscte since 2022. Since January of the same year, she has coordinated the Master’s in Modern and Contemporary History, and served as Deputy Director of the Master’s in International Studies between September 2019 and September 2023. She is an integrated researcher at CEI-Iscte, having been a member of its Scientific Committee between 2016 and 2022.
