A new edition (no. 9) of the FF-IPM – Fruit Flies In-silico Prevention & Management project newsletter is now available.

This project, funded by the European Union, aims to protect fruit production and trade from the threats caused by fruit flies. The project’s newsletters are published quarterly.

In this issue, we highlight the interview with Aruna Manrakhan, conducted by CEI-Iscte researchers Ana Larcher Carvalho and Ulrich Schiefer, in which in which the fundamental role of South Africa’s fruit production industry, which covers more than 200,000 hectares, provides employment for thousands of people and generates substantial revenue, especially from exports, was emphasised. In this industry, the monitoring of fruit fly species and fruit pests is carried out using traps in the orchards.
