The Society of Cretan Historical Studies (SCHS) and the University of Crete Research Center for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences (UCRC) invite you to the hybrid event “Youth Activism against Dictatorships”, to be held on Monday 16 May 2022 at the Historical Museum of Crete in Heraklion. Attendance may be in-person or online via zoom.
The event is organized in the framework of the project “Free your Mind: Youth Activism in Southern Europe in Times of Dictatorship – FYM”, of the European Commission Programme “Europe for Citizens – European Remembrance – REMEM”. The FYM research project is coordinated by Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Portugal) in partnership with the Associação Cultural Ephemera (Portugal), the UCRC of the University of Crete (Greece), the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and the Society of Cretan Historical Studies | Historical Museum of Crete (Greece). The programme, which began in February 2021 and will conclude in 2022, focusses on the role played by generations of young Europeans in the collapse of the dictatorships in Southern Europe in the 1960s and 1970s.
