Created in 1983, Ler História is a Portuguese academic journal in the scientific area of History, dedicated mainly to the history of Portugal, the Portuguese Empire and the Lusophone countries, in the modern and contemporary eras, which is published in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

Ler História also includes in its field of interests other chronologies and geographies, such as Iberian and Ibero-American history, the history of Africa and the history of Asia, among others, being particularly receptive to approaches of comparative, transnational or global history. The journal has always dedicated special attention to questions of a historiographical nature, including theoretical and methodological reflection.

Ler História is published jointly by CIES-Iscte and CEI-Iscte (Center for International Studies).
