On 17 November, issues 45/2023 and 47/2024 of the Cadernos de Estudos Africanos journal will be presented.

Issue 45/2023 is entitled ‘Democratisation, Authoritarianism and Electoral Integrity in Angola and Mozambique’ and issue 47/2024 ‘International Authoritarian Populism in Angola and Mozambique: the weight of history’, both coordinated by Nuno Vidal, a researcher at CEI-Iscte.

In addition to the presentation of the issues, there will be a presentation of the book ‘Reconciliation Operationalised in Mozambique: Charting Inclusion, Truth and Justice, 1922-2002’ by Natália Bueno (CES – University of Coimbra) and a round table discussion entitled “50 Years of Independence: Questions about Authoritarianism and Reconciliation in Angola and Mozambique ” with the participation of Nuno Vidal, Natália Bueno, Sérgio Dundão, (PhD student in Political Science, Iscte), David Boio (director of the Sol Nascente Polytechnic Institute), Clara Carvalho (CEI-Iscte), Mihaela Webba (UNITA deputy) and Paula Roque (University of Oxford).
