The LPAZ Association, in partnership with CEI-Iscte and other national and international institutions, is organising the LPAZ 2025 Forum – ATLANTIC BRIDGES: Culture, Politics and Knowledge | PONTS ATLANTIQUES: Culture, Politique et Savoirs, which will take place on the island of Santa Maria (Azores) on 1, 2 and 3 September.
The event will bring together around 30 speakers from different fields – from literature to geopolitics, oceanography and climate to space technologies – for an interdisciplinary reflection on the challenges facing the Atlantic.
The programme is divided into two parts:
- 1 and 2 September — Academic conference in the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Vila do Porto, open to the public and broadcast online. The working languages will be English and French.
- 3 September — Geostrategic tour, with visits to places of historical and strategic importance on the island of Santa Maria.
During the Forum, the book One Atlantic, many perspectives – valuing diversity in the age of competition, the result of the 2024 edition, will also be presented at a session scheduled for 2 September at 9.30 pm at the Bar do Blues (Lugar dos Anjos).
This will be the 6th edition of the LPAZ Forum, following those of 2015, 2017, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and is supported by the Regional Government of the Azores, the Municipality of Vila do Porto and FLAD – Luso-American Development Foundation.
