The Centre for International Studies (CEI-Iscte), in partnership with the IPSA Research Committee on Visual Politics (RC04), is organizing a three‑day international workshop dedicated to the visual politics of protest.
The event brings together researchers, academics, artists, journalists, and activists to explore how images, symbols, signs, and performances shape public and political understandings of contemporary mobilizations.
The workshop invites reflection on themes such as: visuality and counter‑visuality in protests; theories and narratives of visual politics; political communication and the affective impact of images; media framing and visual contestation; protests, counterpublics, and civil society.
Venue: Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon
Dates: 14–16 July 2026
Organized by: IPSA RC04 – Visual Politics
