The 19th EISA Pan-European Conference on International Relations (PEC 2026) will take place at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, from 1 to 4 September 2026, bringing together scholars and practitioners from across Europe and beyond for one of the most important annual gatherings in the field of International Relations.

In 2026, EISA’s flagship conference will be hosted in Portugal, at the crossroads of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, offering a distinctive vantage point from which to reflect on contemporary global politics and international relations. Building on the remarkable success of PEC 2025 in Bologna, the conference will convene in Lisbon’s dynamic and inspiring scholarly environment, fostering rigorous debate and intellectual exchange.

As per EISA tradition, PEC 2026 will be organised into a wide range of thematic sections, including both standing and newly proposed sections, welcoming contributions from diverse disciplinary backgrounds within international studies. Plenary sessions will address key issues shaping current debates in International Relations and will feature leading scholars from the EISA community.

The conference will also place strong emphasis on community-building and professional development, offering dedicated activities through the Early Career Development Group, alongside social events and professional development sessions designed to support scholars at all career stages.

EISA remains firmly committed to inclusivity and accessibility. The Association’s Mobility Fund, which has been expanded over the years, will continue to provide financial support to participants in need, ensuring that PEC 2026 remains open and accessible to a diverse international community.

Guided by a spirit of mutual respect, openness, and critical engagement, PEC 2026 aims to create a welcoming space where ideas can be formulated, debated, challenged, and refined. It is this ethos that has established the EISA Pan-European Conferences as the leading annual event in International Relations in Europe — a tradition we are delighted to continue in Portugal’s vibrant capital, Lisbon.
