Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon informs that applications are open, until 17 September 2025, for two types of scholarships aimed at third-cycle (doctoral) students for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Merit Scholarship, with a monthly amount equivalent to the national reference value for PhD scholarships awarded by the FCT (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology), is intended for new students and students enrolled in the 1st year of a PhD programme in the 2024/2025 academic year.
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarship is available to new students who have completed a master’s degree at Iscte in the two academic years immediately prior to the start of their PhD, including those who have completed — or will complete — their degree in 2024/2025.
These scholarships are intended exclusively for students enrolling for the first time in the following PhD programmes: Public Administration, Political Science, Communication Sciences, Modern and Contemporary History, Public Policy, Social Work, Educational Administration and Management Policies, and Sociology. All these programmes are integrated into the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte), a research unit recognised for its scientific excellence in the field of social sciences.
Students who are already enrolled, as well as those applying during the 6th application phase, which runs from 26 June to 27 August 2025, are also eligible.
