On March 5, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) launched Notice of the Call and the FCT Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships 2025, in the Regular Line of Application and in a Specific Line of Application in a Non-Academic Environment

Applications will be open from March 17 to April 16, 2025.
CEI-Iscte receives expressions of interest for host institution until 20 March.

Doctoral Research Grants are intended for candidates enrolled in a study cycle leading to a doctoral degree, or candidates who meet the necessary conditions for enrolment, and who intend to carry out research activities leading to the degree in all areas of knowledge.To apply for a PhD this studentship, it is mandatory:

a) Not to have benefited from any PhD studentship or PhD in Industry studentship directly funded by FCT, regardless of its duration.
b) Not to hold a doctoral degree.
c) To live in Portugal permanently or habitually, if applying to a both in Portugal and abroad or entirely abroad studentship. This requirement applies to both applicants with Portuguese and foreign citizenship.

Proposals should include the following elements:

  • Doctoral programme you are enrolled in (or applying for);
  • Work plan that includes:
    • the main scientific area for which you are applying,
    • title of the work programme,
    • four keywords,
    • summary and objectives,
  • Motivation letter justifying the choice of CEI as the host institution and indicating the supervisor;
  • Indication of the line to be called (Regular or Specific Line of Application in a Non-Academic Environment)
