CEI-Iscte congratulates researcher Raquel da Silva, who won the contest “O 25 de Abril e a democracia portuguesa” funded by FCT: Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology).
Raquel da Silva, Assistant Professor at the University of Coimbra and integrated researcher at Iscte’s Centre for International Studies, presented a project entitled “Memórias da Resistência: A luta armada contra a ditadura em Portugal” (MEMORALU). The project involves the development of a documentary that combines the fields of Political and Social Psychology, History, and Visual Anthropology, creating not only a historical record, but also a visual and psychological exploration of the resistance to the dictatorship in Portugal.
The main objective will be to address the role and impact of LUAR (Liga de Unidade e Ação Revolucionária), ARA (Ação Revolucionária Armada) and BR (Brigadas Revolucionárias) in the struggle against the authoritarian regime that preceded the Carnation Revolution, in order to recover the collective memory of armed resistance, taking into account the socio-political context and the strategic integration of armed action in a panorama of insurrections, attacks and coups that runs through the history of the mass struggle against fascism in Portugal.
