The Military History Consortium (MHC) will be holding its second annual conference on 4-6 June 2025 at Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon in Lisbon, Portugal.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Richard Reid (University of Oxford).
The conference will feature a rich programme of panels and papers exploring all aspects of military history and the history of war and conflict in its broadest sense—from antiquity to the modern day, and across all regions of the world. Discussions will highlight the many ways military history intersects with political, economic, social, and cultural developments over time.
In line with the aims of the Military History Conference (MHC), particular attention will be given to periods and regions that are often under-represented in the field, including Antiquity and the Global South. The MHC is also committed to supporting the next generation of scholars, and the programme will showcase the work of emerging researchers, including PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
The programme will be structured around thematic panels, each composed of up to three presentations and a designated chair, as well as individual paper presentations grouped into coherent panels by the organisers.
The full programme of the conference is available here.
