Biographical Information

Eduardo Costa Dias, PhD in Social Anthropology, is a researcher at the Centro de Estudos Internacionais – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (CEI-IUL). In addition, he is professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Policies, and the director of the PhD program in African Studies at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal. He has worked on the state, relations between Muslim dignitaries and the state, and the transmission of religious knowledge in islamic society of the Senegambia. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors at the Mande Studies Association.
