Biographical Information

Alexandra Dias is a researcher at the Centro de Estudos Internacionais – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa  (CEI-IUL) in the context of the program “Science 2008”. Her research focuses on armed conflicts and political violence; the processes of state formation, disintegration , reconfiguration and consolidation; and international and regional security in Africa, particularly looking into transnational security dynamics and the maritime dimension of security. Somalia and the Horn of Africa are of central interest to her research, and she frequently comments on TV and Radio on related issues.
